NAVISTAR BEGINS DELIVERING INTERNATIONAL PROSTAR TRUCKS TO SOUTH KOREA
Vehicles are the first on-road commercial trucks to arrive under free-trade agreement

SEOUL, South Korea – (February 12, 2014) Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV) today announced it began deliveries of its International® ProStar® trucks in South Korea. The company is the first U.S. truck manufacturer to deliver on-road commercial vehicles to South Korea following the enactment of the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement in March 2012.

“Navistar is proud to be one of the first U.S. manufacturers to cultivate new commerce with South Korea,” said Tom Clevinger, senior vice president and general manager of Navistar’s global export operations. “In the United States, the ProStar was used as a benchmark for developing aerodynamic standards. Under the free trade agreement, Korean truck drivers will now be able to experience the cost savings associated with the improved aerodynamics and fuel efficiency of aero-nosed on-road commercial trucks.”

The ProStar offers fleets and drivers the efficient power of a big bore engine with lighter weight components to maximize payload. Available in a 6x4 application with 475 horsepower and 235 kg-m of torque, the ProStar delivers excellent fuel economy, performance and reliability to maximize cost savings. Aerodynamics contributes 50 percent to overall fuel economy, which make it critical that a vehicle is designed to minimize aerodynamic drag. The ProStar vehicle’s aero nose and other aerodynamic components make it one of the most fuel efficient vehicles in the truck industry.

“With more than 70,000 vehicles on the road in North America, the ProStar offers top-of-the-line fuel mileage, driver comfort and maintainability,” Clevinger said. “Furthermore, the vehicles arriving in Korea have also been modified to comply with specific Korean market requirements.”

Navistar will support products in South Korea through its International® truck dealerships. The company currently has six locations and plans to continue to grow its service and support network.

ProStar units for the Korean market are built at the company’s assembly plant in Springfield, Ohio.
